FAQs

1.) What happens during forest school?

Forest school is not that different than your traditional preschool programs! We read books, play games, and sing songs while learning and growing in all the developmental domains. The main difference is that most of our work is done outside with nature as our classroom! Follow the link below to learn more about our classes and the three beautiful wild spaces we call home.

2.) Do I need to enroll in all sessions?

No, you do not. Our registration is completely flexible, allowing you to enroll your child in as many days as you'd like. No matter if it's only one day a week, or all five, we're thrilled any time the wildlings get to join us for Forest School. â€‹

3.) Do I need to attend with my child?

Nope, it's a drop off program! You get to enjoy three child-free hours to accomplish anything you'd like.

If your child is not quite three, still working on potty-training, or prefers to adventure alongside you or a caregiver, check out our parent-volunteer program. It allows for approved parents or caregivers to attend forest school alongside their wildlings. **UPDATE: Our Parent Volunteer program is currently at capacity. Check back next season for new opportunities**

4.) Does my child need to be potty-trained to attend?

Yes, due to our small teacher-student ratios and the adventurous nature of our preschool program, we are unable to accommodate diapered Wildlings at this time.  Stay tuned as we hope to expand our program in the future to serve Wildlings of all ages!

5.) What does my child need to bring to Wildlings Forest School classes?

Not much! Our experienced educators will always provide the books and craft materials needed for each day's adventure. The only things we ask you to worry about are pre-applying your choice of bug spray and sunscreen (during the warmer months), dressing your Wildling in weather-appropriate clothing, and sending them with a full spill-proof water bottle, and a few peanut-free non-perishable snacks. Think snap peas, goldfish, fruit, pouches, etc.

6.) What is your class size?

Our classes are limited to 16 Wildlings ages 3-6, with a teacher-student ratio of 1:6. Much different from the Florida State Standard of 1 teacher for every 15 three-year-olds. With Ms. Ragon as the lead educator and supervisor and a team of two daily parent volunteers, wildlings are well cared for during all our outdoor adventures.

6.) What about bad weather

In the true spirit of Forest School we don't believe in "bad" weather. Wildlings are asked to come to class dressed for the environment, whether it is rainy and muddy, or hot and humid. There is so much valuable learning that happens when faced with less than "ideal" conditions. The only reason we would ever cancel a Wildlings class is in the case of extreme weather such as lightning or hurricanes. Thankfully, our Boyd Hill and Folly Farms locations have sheltered spaces for us to wait out any of the brief Florida storms that sometimes pass through. Maximo Park is the only location that is fully outdoors and a bit more subjective to the weather. Make sure you follow us on Instagram so you're aware of any last-minute class updates that may occur.

6.) Do you accept the "Step Up For Students" scholarship

We hope to soon! We're currently in the process of applying to become an approved provider for the Step Up For Students program and hope to be officially approved soon. In the meantime, we're happy to work with families to provide the documentation needed for reimbursement. Simply reach out to us via email or direct messaging on social media and we can work with you to begin the process.
